Superintendent Alan Lumpkin Announces Retirement

The Scott County School District announces the retirement of Superintendent Alan Lumpkin, effective June 30, 2026, concluding four years of dedicated service to the students, staff, and families of Scott County and over 30 years of service in public education.

During his tenure, Mr. Lumpkin has remained committed to working closely with the SCSD Board of Education and each school's leadership team to improve instruction, address failing infrastructure, and expand the opportunities available to students in SCSD.

"The children of Scott County deserve the same educational opportunities as children across our state and that has been a point of emphasis for our team," stated Mr. Lumpkin.  “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such dedicated educators, supportive families, and outstanding students.  Together, we have advocated for children and focused on building a strong foundation that will prepare our students to be successful in their respective endeavors.”

"It has been one of the greatest honors of my professional career to serve the Scott County communities,” said Mr. Lumpkin.
