The Scott County School District was notified at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, November 15th that there was a potential ruptured gas line on the Morton Campus. Students were moved to a safe area of the campus at 12:50 p.m. Evacuation of the students began at 1:20 p.m. Everyone involved did an admirable job handling the situation. Procedures were followed according to the SCSD Emergency Crisis Plan. We would like to thank Emergency Management for working with us to ensure the safety of our students and staff. The line was worked on until late last night, and is supposed to be reconnected by 11:00 a.m. today. We would also like to give a special thanks to our local law enforcement and first responders, school and district officials. Everyone handled the situation in the best way possible, and for that we are very grateful. We are very thankful that the incident was not worse than it actually was.
